Looking Back on 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we are proud to reflect on an outstanding year for Smith Brothers, where we have continued to grow, innovate, and strengthen our commitment to customers, colleagues, and suppliers.

New Distribution Centre

In May, we opened a new 75,000-square-foot distribution centre, exceeding the combined capacity of our former Blaby and Whetstone facilities. The site provides approximately 3,900 pallet locations and 330 cantilever locations for pipe storage, compared with a combined total of 900 pallet locations and 100 cantilever locations previously. This expansion has significantly enhanced our logistics capabilities, stock handling, and overall service levels.

SBS Aberdeen

Smith Brothers had previously served the Aberdeen area through our Dundee branch. However, due to continued growth and increasing demand, we were delighted to open a fully dedicated local branch, bringing greater convenience, improved stock availability, and enhanced customer support throughout the Northeast of Scotland.

InstallerShow

This year marked our third appearance at the InstallerShow, and once again, the event exceeded expectations. With over 25,000 professionals from across the HVAC, water, and energy sectors, the show offered unparalleled visibility and engagement.

Our stand featured our exclusive CORE range, our specialist pipe systems including Aquatechnik MLCP and Isotubi stainless, and our expanding ACR product range. The addition of a bar and two popular grabber machines made the stand a lively and engaging hub for customers and visitors.

Recognition

We were delighted to be named the Heating and Plumbing Merchant of the Year at the Builders Merchants Awards. This award is a true reflection of the fantastic work and dedication shown by everyone at Smith Brothers. Over the past year, we have continued to grow and elevate our service, products and expertise, while focusing on our SBS promise of Staff, Stock and Service.

Additionally, Smith Brothers ranked in the East Midlands Top 200, and we were among the top five companies in Leicestershire by turnover, further demonstrating our sustainable growth and scale.

Another successful year for CORE

Our exclusive product range has continued to flourish, with over 2,000 products now available. One of the year’s standout innovations is the CORE Side Stream Magnetic Filter Range, which recently expanded further with the introduction of Plus and XL sizes!

The product was even shortlisted across multiple industry awards this year, including:

• Energy Awards – Energy Efficient Partnership of the Year
• Constructing Excellence 2025 ( East Midlands) – Regeneration & Conservation, Retrofit
• British Construction Industry Awards 2025 – innovation impact award, Highly commended for retrofit and reuse project
• H&V News Awards 2025 – Low Carbon Impact Award, Commercial HVAC Product of the year – Heating, Building a Safer Future, Building Services Project of the Year
• HVR Awards 2025 – Commercial/Industrial heating product of the year, Retrofit project of the year

Heat Pumps and ACR

To meet growing demand for more sustainable solutions, this year we refined our Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) offering and related ancillary products. We now provide a range of complete, energy-efficient heating solutions tailored to the UK market across both domestic and light commercial sectors.

We’ve completely reworked our online ACR product categorisation to reflect the broad and diverse ACR range we now offer – not just our Daikin and Midea air conditioning units, but also a wide variety of ancillaries, including copper tube, insulation, pumps, and even refrigerant gas!

Our entire ACR range can now also be found in our new ACR, Heat Pumps & Cellar Cooling brochure, offering a comprehensive overview of the range, including:

• Product codes for quick and accurate ordering
• Key technical data for Daikin and Midea units, such as warranty details and standard fault codes

Looking ahead to 2026

Looking ahead, the year 2026 is already bringing exciting opportunities. We plan to further expand our network by opening a Gloucester branch to support our Bristol and Cardiff locations, increasing our stock capacity and service capabilities.

We are also excited to return to the InstallerShow for a fourth consecutive year, where we will once again showcase our market-leading products and, as always, bring plenty of energy, engagement and merchandise to the stand.
