The Penglais Farm Student Residences offer the very latest in purpose-built student accommodation for 1000 students. The development includes 100 studio flats specifically designed for postgraduate students.

Balfour Beatty was contracted to design, build and maintain the accommodation over time. They aimed to use local businesses around Aberystwyth to aid and supply the project. This means that they are be protecting local jobs and supporting business growth whilst implementing training and apprenticeship schemes.

One of the businesses that helped with the project was Smith Brothers Stores, a HVAC merchant who has a local branch located in Cardiff, which was available to service any back orders or additional product requirements on-site by using their one-day delivery service.

Located within easy walking distance to the University’s Penglais Campus via a footbridge and placed behind the award-winning Pentre Jane Morgan student village. The new accommodation offers students plenty of space for living and studying and provides Wi-Fi internet access.

Inspired by the landscape and architecture of rural Wales, the new development features a series of two and three-storey buildings with flats for six or eight students living in self-catered accommodation. A central hub provides a range of social, learning and living functions including launderettes, bike stores, communal space for clubs and societies, and computing facilities. There is also a new grass sports pitch.

The first students moved into the accommodation at the beginning of the 2014 academic year, forming the first community of students to live in Pantycelyn.

The students who have moved into the halls are attending Aberystwyth university, that is located on the west coast of Wales between Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains. The university was founded in 1872 and proudly boasts teaching excellence and a good student experience.
