BMS Installations has been carrying out the mechanical installation on an apartment complex in the heart of Liverpool’s King’s Dock. This project had both Aquatechnik and Isotubi systems installed, which are exclusive to Smith Brothers Stores. As this project is based in Liverpool, the products were supplied by SBS Merseyside. Overall, the development cost £40 million for 257 new apartments located on the waterfront.
This project is a part of a significant development on the waterfront of the river Mersey that includes; an exhibition centre, multiple hotels, multi-story car parks and a wheel where you can view the skyline of Liverpool.
The dock was designed and opened in 1785, where it joined a dock system which was 7.5 miles along the Liverpool bank of the river Mersey. This was the most advanced port system in the world at the time. The docks helped ship movements 24 hours a day.
The Aquatechnik safety multi-layer system serves Domestic Services & Heating mains, and in the plant room, the Isotubi Stainless Steel Press System was also being incorporated into the build. The two systems complement each other nicely and form a system that will serve the building for many years.
Both systems come with a 25-year warranty and are fully WRAS approved. The Aquatechnik system is approved to EN21003 Standards and Isotubi is manufactured to meet EN10217-7 and EN10312 standards. The Isotubi range is also BSi approved.
Aquatechnik Safety System is a Multilayer Pipe System exclusive to Smith Brothers Stores. The system is available in pipe sizes from 16mm to 90mm and is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as the distribution of Hot & Cold Potable Water, Heating and Chilled Water Systems and even Compressed Air Installations. Isotubi’s stainless steel NUMEPRESS system has a maximum working pressure of 16 bar. Suitable applications include potable water, gas, heating, plumbing, solar, compressed air, steam, fire protection (sprinkler) and mining. The system comes with a 25-year warranty.
